About DataLicenseCheck

Updated October 10, 2026 · By the DataLicenseCheck team

DataLicenseCheck helps company owners, founders and operators understand a new market: licensing their company’s operational data to AI labs. We explain how it works, what records are worth, the legal questions to ask, and which buyers fit which companies.

Why we built this

Most owners don’t know their Slack history, support tickets or CRM records have value, or they hear about it only when a company is shutting down and the archives are about to be deleted. Buyer websites explain their own offer. We explain the whole market in one place, in plain English.

How we research

  • Primary sources first. Prices, eligibility and terms come from each buyer’s own public pages, and we say so (“micro1 states…”, “Polyshares states…”).
  • Press reporting is cited. When we quote news coverage, we link to it.
  • No guarantees. Published ranges are what buyers state, not what you will receive.
  • Honest limits. Every review includes cons and a “who it’s not for” section.
  • Kept current. Each page shows the date it was last updated, and we revise pages when buyers change their terms.
  • Not advice. We are not lawyers, accountants or financial advisers. Nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice.

How we’re paid

We are an independent referral service. We earn a commission only when a company we refer completes a transaction with a partner. It costs you nothing extra. Commissions do not change what we write, and we don’t accept payment for reviews.
